A Day at Dawes

Not much jewelry making going on these days...just taking everyones advise and "enjoying it because they grow up so fast"

These pics are at Dawes Aboretum which we are lucky enough to have it just right up the road from us so we go there often in the evenings.

After the sun gets low ..the Japanese Garden becomes nothing less than enchanting.

As kids we went there on field trips alot for school and it wasn't really too exciting..just a bunch of trees. But as adults we are amazed at the vast collection and variety of trees. Its so impressive and we think we are passing on the appreciation of it to Carter as much as is possible. He does what we do by walking along and touching and smelling. We always bring home something...a cat tail from big pond, pinecone, bird feather..we put them in a vase by our foyer and he looks at them all the time :)

The 4th

Chris finally found some time to concrete the rest of our driveway..it was long over due and we are really excited!

So was someone else..Carter was right out there in the middle of it all~

And he even got to make his mark

And soak himself with the hose!

WE had such a fun weekend!

Fireworks 2 nights..Friday night was at the mall with friends..Carter had sooooo much fun running around with all the kids.

Saturday night we went to the campus and was right under the fireworks, it was incredible..Carter kept sticking out his tougue to catch them!

We went to the Granville Street Fair but the heat was unbearble so after 2 rides in the burning sun and a very sour lemon shake-up... we called it quits :(

Summertime

 I have been meaning to do an update on Carters foot..it is now completly healed and you will never know it happened.

 This is right after we changed his bandage for the first time..

And this is when it started peeling...he actually liked to peel it himself :)

Father's Day

This new knotted leather bracelet is just MY style and I hope to do more of it in the future!

A Memorable Memorial Weekend...

Our weekend did not start off good. We bought Carter a little pool for our back patio..its on the south side of our house. The sun had been shining all morning on the metal threshold on our french door..Carter stepped on it and went down screaming! I couldn't figure out what had happened at first and then I looked at his foot..it has just melted his skin, we never would have dreamed the sun would have made it that hot.

We put his foot in a bucket of cold water and rushed him to the ER. Needless to say it was a horrible experience. He cried and screamed and clung to me..he was hysterical..and all with his foot in this bucket.

No one offered any kind of help it was as if they had never worked with a little kid in such pain!

I begged..pleaded..(yelled) at anyone coming in our room for some help.

Over an hour later the doctor came in and said yes it was a 2nd degree burn and offered Tylenol. Woo.

I asked for something stronger please????

 ...they put on Neosporin and wrapped it.

He was so exhausted..the car drive home put him to sleep and finally he could rest and we could decompress.

I was so scared for him to wake up..but when he did he was happy and in a great mood :) I guess the Tylenol with Codeine did the trick!

 He has been a real trooper..he sat in his little chair and watched hours and hours of Kipper dvd's ..it was a great distraction!

 

He is doing really well and we have changed the bandages..(I was scared to look at it) and now he is walking on it.

He is making us laugh when we tell him to be careful and walk slow he hunches over like and old man and walks really slow looking at us with a sly little smile!

I feel like I should be on Oprah to warn everyone about the hidden dangers in your own home..it was so freak we never would have imagined something like that happening.

Lesson learned..don't bother with our local ER!

I can't believe I have a 2 year old!

I'm a little late in this post ..but our life is full and busy in the best way these days!

 As you can see..Carter was so excited to get his balloons!

 I found him a Kipper the Dog stuffed toy on Ebay..they don't make them anymore. You squeeze his hand and he says some of Kippers famous phrases..he hugs and kisses him all the time!

 I didn't have any luck getting someone to make him a Kipper cake so his next love is Backhoes and Bulldozers

 Daddy bought him his first set of "real" golf clubs and he knows just how to use them!

He is just doing so many little boy things now..climbing..talking and he is looking more kid like now too!

We are having so much fun with him this summer he makes everything so much better and

I'm so lucky that I get to be his mommy!
